Ceiling lamp holder with remote control

The light switch inside the bedroom is installed on the right side(on entry) which forced the door to be hung on the left thus blocking a direct path into the room. This constant delicate manoeuvering annoyed me to the extent I re-hung the door on the right as shown in picture above. So now the light switch is conveniently hidden behind the door when it is opened. To solve this dilemma without re-routing the switch I purchased a E27 Remote Control Lamp Holder from ebay for AUD13.

This lamp holder is designed for tabletop use so the socket does not have an outside thread to mount a lamp shade. Rather ugly when mounted on the ceiling with a naked bulb. Inside the lamp holder is a 433Mhz wireless receiver with an electronic switch or relay and connecting wires to 240V and the globe. Note only 1 screw on the PCB even though there are 2 mounting posts. Very shonky.

To use it with a nice lamp shade, I placed the wireless receiver PCB inside a Holman 90mm PVC storm cap from Bunnings and mounted it under a standard batten holder. The mounting screws had to be longer in order to accommodate the thickness of the cap.

The holder for the remote control switch was designed with Autodesk Fusion 360 and 3D-printed at Jaycar's Maker Hub in Broadway for AUD11. You can view the holder interactively here and download the design/STL files from this link. The holder is mounted on the wall with double-sided tape.
